Saswat Barpanda

The most valuable resource in todays fast-paced corporate world. The present recruitment scenario is witness to the expertise of executive research firms/ people, better known as headhunters. Headhunters have established themselves as a valuable link in the employment chain. Human capital, undoubtedly, is the DNA of the knowledge economy. The direct correlation between talent and profitable growth is forcing hiring managers to retool traditional hiring mechanisms and has resulted in the birth of the human capital solution provider. Of course the concept of headhunting is a scientific art or we may say artistic science. Various companies and firms have chosen to enhance their human resource by using the expertise that headhunters bring to recruitment. Headhunting does not mean sending a bunch of C.V. to the clients and arranging interviews. It is much more than that. They take care of the complete process that ensures our clients get the right people, for the right position and most importantly, at the right time. Typically Headhunting is associated with a higher degree of industry knowledge and a more specialized approach. Whereas a recruiter may place an advertisement or place calls with no prior knowledge of the individual they are contacting, a headhunter will attempt to know about the subjects previous employment history, education, etc.

The boom in the headhunting industry can be attributed to the headhunters superior understanding of the industry and market norms, job profiles, people skills etc.The former part is scientific and the later is artistic. By virtue of their aggressive networking and people skills, headhunters today have created a niche for themselves. Increasing staff turnover rates have served to propel the headhunting industry to a high demand, high delivery industry. It is imperative to have an in-depth specialized knowledge of the industry, the job requirements, work culture, HR policies etc. This is the reason most headhunters work within well-defined niches and offer their services in specialized industries. Every new search assignment that a headhunter takes up involves sifting the grain from the chaff.- the most valuable resource in todays fast-paced corporate world.
